Nomos anglues
This week, the watch industry has delivered an eclectic mix of updates, ranging from refreshed everyday chronographs to high-end manual-wound pieces. I have taken a closer look at the latest offerings from Seiko, Nomos, Norqain, Unimatic, and Angelus to see what stands out in their current lineups.
Seiko continues to expand its popular Speedtimer solar chronograph line with the new HBJ008, a European-exclusive release. While the core specifications—such as the 39mm stainless steel case and reliable V192 solar quartz movement—remain consistent with previous iterations, this model introduces a striking navy blue dial paired with vibrant orange accents. It offers a solid, hassle-free option for those seeking a retro racing aesthetic, though it lacks some of the finer amenities like micro-adjustments on the bracelet.

Nomos has revitalized its distinct Metro collection by introducing a refreshing 'ice blue' aesthetic. The update applies to the Date Power Reserve, which now houses the manual-wind DUW 4701 movement, and the Neomatik 41 Update. These models retain their hallmark wire lugs and minimalist design, but the new metallic, frost-like blue dial provides a contemporary update to the well-known subway map-inspired design language.
Elsewhere, Norqain is pushing its Wild One collection into new territory by swapping its traditional carbon composite for grade 5 titanium. This over-engineered sport watch is designed for high shock resistance and is available in both 39mm and 42mm variations, including a unique iron meteorite dial version. Meanwhile, Unimatic has collaborated with E. Marinella on a limited-run Modello Quattro GMT. This Tokyo-exclusive release utilizes the Seiko-sourced NH34A movement and features a detailed micro-patterned blue dial reminiscent of luxury silk ties.
Finally, Angelus has expanded its horological offerings with the new Chronographe Tachymètre. Available in stainless steel or 18k yellow gold, these 37mm pieces are notably slim, housing a manual-wound monopusher movement. They represent a significant shift toward compact, historically inspired luxury, prioritizing a blend of refined finishing and vintage-inspired proportions.
